Best Player 2017 in FC Sheriff squad according to fans voting, Ziguy Badibanga shares his feelings on this achievement.
Ziguy, congratulations on winning this award! What are your feelings?
I’m so glad to get this prize. The fans chose me and it means they are satisfied with my performance on the pitch.
Did you expect to be on top according to the voting results?
I even haven't heard the player of the year award existed there. That’s why I can’t speak about my expectations.
If you could vote yourself, what player on our team would you choose?
I’d vote for my all team as all the guys deserve this title. We all are like one big player, all of us showed well-organized and close-knit work on the pitch.
What does this trophy mean for you?
I feel flattered and I want to thank everyone who voted for me on the club’s website. Personal achievements are also important in every player’s professional life. That’s why today’s award is a huge personal achievement in my sports career.
What other awards do you have in your collection?
In my youth’s days, I received lots of individual awards of the kind. In my professional life, it’s my third trophy like this.
Tell us about the brightest moments of the former season.
I still remember two unforgettable moments connected with the scored goals, of course. The first one – the game against Zimbru, when I scored and that goal helped us to grab the victory out from our major opponents. That goal let me get out of a difficult period in my play in general. And the second is the goal sent into Lokomotiv’s net. That victory brought us many positive and happy emotions.
What do you expect from the 2018 season?
I’m getting ready for a tough championship and this helps me to better concentrate. I’m waiting for lots of interesting games in the coming up season. FС Sheriff philosophy is to achieve victories on the pith. We need to get bigger success than in the former season.
Tell us about training camps in Turkey.
We did a great job there. We improved our physical condition and technique. I am pleased on the whole. Excellent board and lodging as well as the level of the players’ preparation. By the end of the training, we were quite exhausted: it shows our commitment to the process. Next season, we will be in our optimal physical condition.
Your wishes to the fans in the lead-up to the Championship.
I thank our fans for their warm support. It would be great to feel it in the coming up season. We will try to show beautiful football and get victories for our fans. My dream is to play in the Championship League group stage. It would be great to reach this stage of the tournament together with our fans and supporters.
