Veaceslav Rusnac: “The period of training camps is the most important in the preparation for the championship”
FC “Sheriff” head coach Veaceslav Petrovich Rusnac gave an interview for the official site of the club and summed up provisional results:
Veaceslav Petrovich, the calendar year and the first part of the championship is over. How can you estimate work performed by the team?
As a matter of fact, we had to create a new team. We made a good selection. Many good players came to the team and they have a great potential. We could enter Europa League group stage but unfortunately we could not go out of the group. It is the greatest failure at this period of time because we were able to do that. The most negative fact was that our players started playing worse during the season and they showed a game which was of lower level. We probably did not work enough on tactical and psychological moments. But the positive moment is the good game of the team that was showed by the guys during that period of time. The potential of the players was seen and thanks to that we can solve the highest tasks.
Are you satisfied with the game of the team in general?
The games were different. We had many good matches where the team showed themselves in a positive way. But if we remember the game with “Tromsø” and “Anji”, then we acted not very convincing. But in general, the team performed well these six months.
FC “Sheriff” leads the standings by a head in the championship. Does it mean that there is no intrigue any longer, or is it early to talk about it?
The fact that FC “Sheriff” takes the first place is not surprising. Our football players are very often much stronger than any other footballer. Intrigue? There are many matches ahead which will be interesting.
FC “Sheriff” has two training camps in Turkey. How important is this stage of preparation for our team?
I think this period is the most important because the foundation will be laid in these training camps and we will base on that foundation for the whole season. If we want to achieve great results, then the period of training camps will be the most important for us.
Do you plan to make the team stronger?
I think that there will be strengthening in every line. It will create positive competition and will help the players to improve themselves.
The team is having a vacation now. How do you spend your free time?
I cannot say that I am having a vacation. I have much work, analysis of the past season, watching videos, players, making new planes, finding faults which must be improved, for example, game discipline. I will have time for a holiday later.
